Sometimes I feel like I'm one of the people in this picture in regards to everything that comes at me in my life. It's time to loosen up and let go every once in awhile. Life's too short to always be in a tug-of-war with yourself.

My Independent Weekend...
My weekend consisted of decompressing, relaxing, and a little sunshine. Yes, I did have to work a little but all in all I was able to re-energize myself through listening to good music, the beautiful weather, and excessive amounts of coffee.

The Soundtrack of the Summer...
I'm hoping the Summer of 2011 brings a lot of new adventures and memories. With a variety of friends in tow including my favorite plan 'Plan D'. A 'summer in the city' 24 hour trip in NYC is way over due, a jaunt over to P-Town on the ferry, an impromptu day trip to The Beachcomber, a country concert, Montreal, boating 'Captain Ron style', Scootin around with 'Be careful who you invite to Brazil', roof deck sun bathing, hotel pool parties, Sunday Funday's, and Puerto Rico cliff diving...
This is just a preliminary bucket list and I'm open to many more ideas :) When will I find time to do all of these amazing things? I will figure it out, I always do...

MIA...
I started a new job April 4th, that explains my disappearance. My disappearance into the 9-5er abyss! I work with a variety of suburbanites that are very friendly but I find myself wanting to kidnap them and bring them back to life in the city. I'm sure they have very comfortable, happy, and fulfilling lives in Newton, Dover, or Andover but I'm not ready (if ever) to travel to that part of life.
I love the vibrant city life, noise, and commotion! I thrive off of it...but sometimes I think less is more. It's the simple things that make you happy.
The new gig is going well but turns me into a contestant of the amazing race about 3 days a week. Which includes a 20 minute walk, 12 minute bus ride, 2 minute walk......work all day......2 minute walk, 15 minute bus ride, 10 minute T ride, 10 minute walk, than boxing (where I do not think for a good 55 minutes)
All and all life is busy but I'm trucking along.

Anthem of the weekend...
I indulged in some banana chocolate french toast, a visit at Cafe Vittoria with Plan D (my favorite plan), a solo run along the Charles River, and pouring a few hundred drafts at work (which seemed bitter sweet). This week has a lot in store for me.
Getting ready for my new job I start on April 4th, a possible short NYC trip, and continuing to plug away at my website. All in all my emotions are running high but for the first time in a long time they are running...

Laughs, Wine, and Cards
I had a fun filled weekend hanging out with my former roommates from 632 Dot Ave. in Southie, getting a few good runs in, Dim Sum, and working on my laptop. Saturday was card night at T's in which Katy kicked all of our asses while indulging in wine (red & white), bud light lime, and a yummy dish of risotto/asparagus/corn/shrimp, and cookies. I miss my girls and must make an effort to hop on the T and head over to Southie more often.
It has been awhile since I went to Dim Sum at China Pearl but it was good as usual. I didn't get annoyed this time because they didn't put a fork on my table. Finishing up the weekend with a six mile run through the seaport/southie and watching a little bit of the Oscars. All in all the weekend was filled with laughs, a little drama, the uncertain, listening, a few tears, and honesty. Basically I'm drained...

I've been tripping off constellations and stars
And so I whispered into your ear,
"What are you thinking about?"
You just looked up at the stars
And so I whispered into your ear,
"Who are you thinking about?"
It couldn't be me
"What are you thinking about?"
You just looked up at the stars
And so I whispered into your ear,
"Who are you thinking about?"
It couldn't be me
You can't look me in my eyes anymore,
Without the rivers to tend.
Because you remember our love was true,
But you just needed a hand,
And you can't look me in my eyes anymore,
Without yourself to defend.
You know you hurt me so bad,
Just cause you needed a hand.
Without the rivers to tend.
Because you remember our love was true,
But you just needed a hand,
And you can't look me in my eyes anymore,
Without yourself to defend.
You know you hurt me so bad,
Just cause you needed a hand.

Comment of the day...
By still having the honor of working in the service industry and exposing myself to all sorts of walks of life I was thoroughly amused by a comment from a patron today. My coworker brought the check over to his guests table and as he was about to walk away the women stated, "My grilled cheese was disgusting!" Coworkers response, "Was there something wrong with your meal?" Insane customer, "My sandwich was just like cheese and bread." Coworker's response, "Ok." In his head thinking...Ok Einstein, because that is the definition of a grilled cheese sandwich.
I tell you people get more and more crazy everyday and find things to complain about but are not even aware of what they are saying. I can understand if the customer asked for something and didn't get it but lady a grilled cheese sandwich is just cheese and bread. To top it off her sick daughter legit blew chunks on her plate at the table and my coworker almost got sick viewing the disgusting sight. Before I found out what he saw I thought something serious had happened because his face was white and looked like he saw a ghost.
I'm entertained everyday by the lack of common sense and obscure comments from customers in the service industry. Oh well, all you can do is smile and walk away because they are still paying for your beers on the weekend and vacations in the summer!

I Just Came To Say Hello!
I love this video more than the actual song. The setting, scenario, and fashion are creative and a story line that keeps you in suspense. If shows what guys will do to impress a secret love. Too bad Martin's crush has a different guy meeting her at the match. End result, he gives up. Quitters never win (or get the woman they desire).
One thing I will say, no matter what the situation is whether it's music, art, sports, or just working. Guys who are passionate about what they do exude confidence and sex appeal. Many women will attest to this. Therefore, maybe the more reserved dorky guy can be the night in shining armor if he is up for the challenge :)

Fave Grammy 2011 Performance
This is the only clip I could find so it's not the best quality. The song 'Jolene' by Norah Jones, John Mayer, and Keith Urban in tribute of Dolly Parton. All my favorite genre's of music wrapped into one.
In Tribute to Valentines Day I wanted to share with everyone my favorite holiday cards by Uncooked.
It's Valentines Day and I'm so happy we're together. But if you ever leave me I'll kill you.
Like, literally, I'll stab you.
You're my valentine and I can't wait to get hot and heavy with you. I don't really know
what that means but I think it means we have to neck.
Sometimes I think that instead of being a person, you should be cut up into little pieces of heart
shaped candy. That's how sweet and tasty you are.

It's getting hot...crack a window, air it out
Rihanna rocks the red locks while working the sexy circus referee look. I love her playful yet eccentric fashion and dance moves. I want her large rhinestone earrings and colorful shorts! I don't have a car to hear this jam overplayed or listen to radio that often so this song doesn't get old to me...it's hot.
Making me nervous but making me smile
Great jam for my Sunday night run. Also, I love www.vodkasoup.com plug on Karate by Kennedy. The lyrics bring me back to the good old days in Tiffin Ohio sipping Carlo Rossi wine out of a coffee mug and driving through town on a Friday night thinking your gangsta forgetting your cruising in a silver Saturn.
On another note, I had a jam packed fun weekend with friends including a potent scorpian bowl, an impromptu salsa session, and a drag queen named Trampolina. Why does time fly by so fast? The start of another work week is only a few hours away but I'm excited to get it started hoping I can make it down to NYC for a quick visit on Saturday.
Oh yeah, one last thing to all you hopeless romantics and all the special people in my life, Happy early Valentines Day. I passed by my favorite urban cowboy today dressed to the 9's with his cowboy hat, boots, and shiny belt buckle on my way home from work. He wished me a Happy Valentines Day and a Happy Birthday to himself, so random and funny! But of course it put a smile on my face :)

No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service
I consider someone over the age of 12 with a basketball jersey on and no under shirt a hazard to the public, especially in an establishment that serves food. First of all an adult not participating in an athletic competition wearing a basketball jersey in general is a terrifying sight. I get the sports fan dedication to their favorite team but leave it to the kiddies or at least put a t-shirt on under your awesome over priced and over sized jersey.
I put a naked jersey wearing patron in the same category as someone shirtless. Open arm pits, exposed pale skin, and if your lucky enough to not smell BO it's been a good encounter. This brings me to my experience tonight bartending and the urge to refuse service to one of my naked jersey wearing patrons. I get it, it was a big game tonight, Celtics vs. LA. But there are many clothing options to show your commitment as a loyal sports fan so choose wisely. Next time, no shirt, no shoes, no service! Here's an example to refresh your memory.

Where Next?
It's the dead of winter in Boston, snow covering the ground, and the wind feels like ice hitting your face. It's time to plan a trip to a destination with a welcoming climate! My options include Dubai to visit my older sister, a Caribbean cruise with friends Natalie and Heather, long weekend to San Fran (with whoever would like to join me), Ireland, or Southern Spain/Portugal.
I'm thinking I definitely want to visit San Francisco sometime this spring if possible and go on an all out adventure in Europe. I need to get away for awhile to recharge my battery. I was browsing through a few of my old pictures from travels over the years and came across one of my favorite I took in Paris. I was visiting Paris for the weekend with my mother and aunt while studying abroad for the semester in London during my undergrad years.

Chinese New Year
It's a celebration for the Chinese New Year and I happen to find a random fortune in the bottom of one of my handbags. Most people would think that it's a little odd to have a fortune floating around in your handbag but when you go to chinatown on average 3 days a week like me than it makes a little more sense.
Here's what the fortune stated
Get to the point and keep it clear and simple.
Interesting to say the least and a statement I truly think I should take some advice from.

Not Looking...
Great song for a snow day - Who are you when I'm not looking - Blake Shelton.
Great video with moderately accurate lyrics. Yes, woman dance around, scrape off the burnt crust on toast, sing in the shower, paint our toes because we bite our nails, and sometimes make cocktails solo when know one is around. But we do not wear fake eye lashes and a pound of makeup on a casual night in while listening to music. I know men want to think we always look vibrant and glowing. Sometimes we have mascara smeared, our hair is a little crazy, and we wear oversized t-shirts but the exception is that we are women so we always smell good.

Cupid
On my walk home from work tonight I took a moment to appreciate the window displays in my neighborhood. A few Beacon Hill shops have playfully decorated their window displays just in time for the upcoming holiday. Valentines Day.
People have a love/hate feeling towards Valentines Day. I guess it's the same way we feel about men and our birthdays.

Timing...
Timing is everything...
When did 22 year old unemployed spoiled girls think they are experienced, cultured in life, and have uber important career advice to give out? Maybe if your talking to someone who has been locked up for the past 10 years and has not had access to men, music, or a major city for the past five.
Here is the jam that I want to end the night with...enjoy!

Geared up for the weekend...
I had a nice relaxing dinner at Silvertone's with my girlfriend Ryan followed with a delicious bubble tea to start my weekend early! Boxing in the morning, work all day and night, hopefully checking out a friends DJ after work, and brunch on Saturday with all the girls filled with shopping indulgences and shameful conversation topics. Sunday I have to get back to the grind but hopefully followed up with a relaxing evening filled with some leisure time and good eats.
Throughout the weekend I hope to have taught myself a new thing or two in iWeb, discovered some new jams, and improved my right hook!

I just can't get enough...
Great upbeat melody for my jam of the day.
'Girl you push me to the edge make it hard to take a breath, keep on pushing to the end. Baby are you coming out...I'm through wasting time...Know you feel the same.'
New personal project of the month to teach myself iWeb. I'm excited to start designing again even though I need to learn to be patient. Patience is a virtue...

Music and Muscle
Music is my muse and the best thing for your heart and mind in good and bad times. I'm sure some of us have had to count our lover's at some point in our lives :) Plus I love the fact that the girl in this picture has her hat covering her eyes. Sometimes its better off that way.
On another note, I went to one of my favorite workout classes last night at Exhale Spa in the Back Bay and can't get enough of the sport core fusion class. Seriously one of the most exhilarating and 'blast that ass' workouts I have ever been to. It's a crazy hard workout but you feel amazing after. Check it out if you are ever in the Back Bay and want to tone up for bikini season!

Monica's Mercato
Hands down best Italian sub in Boston! Monica's is a hidden market/deli on Salem Street in the Northend that has the best mozzarella, stuffed olives/peppers, and speciality meats in town. I always stopped into Monica's in the past for olives, cheese, and crackers but didn't try a sandwich until last night and it was life changing :)
Again to all of you that know me well my life does revolve around food so I was as happy as a bird with a french fry!

Smooth, Relaxing, and Sexy...kinda like my weekend
This jam by James Blake has my mind wandering on a stroll down an abandoned dark hallway yet pleasantly satisfied with the shadows, lack of noise, and empty space. I can't take the credit for the great music find so I give props to TH during his ADD subway ride and discovering the Brit artist.
My weekend was filled with of course work but I was able to find a little time for friends, boxing, vino, an amazing breakfast burrito, and relaxation while watching a few 80's classics starring one of my fave's Mr. Swayze. The start to another work week calls for discipline and an extra heavy winter jacket considering the temp outside right now is 'zero' with a wind chill of -20. I'm sure one of my scarves will help keep me warm!

Enlightening
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love”
(1 Corinthians 13:13, NIV)
The Bible tells us that love is patient. It is kind. It does not envy; it is not proud. It is not rude. Love is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrong. Love never fails.Notice that these characteristics don’t have anything to do with feelings. Love is a choice. You can choose to walk in love toward people even when you don’t feel like it!

Splendor
Below are my favorite pictures from my trip to the South of France. The cities I visited included Marseilles, Monte Carlo, Menton, and Aix en Provence. The most calming, tranquil, and beautiful place on earth. I will definitely plan another trip to this part of the world again but take more time to appreciate the splendor of it all.
Here's a random quote I find inspiring:
People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so you can appreciate them when they're right, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can come together.

Weekend Summary
The long weekend consisted of a short visit to NYC filled with good friends and random incidents. Including gay bars with my friend Nick, The Hudson Hotel with SW, Lucky's Lounge on Sunday in the company of my girl Ryan, and boxing classes in Southie to kick my ass into shape.
I'm ready for the work week to start which for me begins at 3:00 pm today...

The Barstool
At times tending bar to me is not a job, a chore, or discrepancy to my day. It’s my responsibility to be there for my clients ‘regulars’ I like to call them. I play the role of almost a nonexistent friend or even estranged wife at times. I get you a cold beer when beckoned (many times without even asking I have one ready for you as soon as you touch the barstool), I listen, I converse, and I even give you shit once and awhile to keep you on your toes (many people misinterpret this as flirting but it’s honestly me keeping you in line).
I pride myself in my chameleon like role and the fact I know the deepest secrets of my clients family, relationship, and job issues yet I spend about 30 minutes a week with them. I give advice on dating, event planning, surprises to loved ones, children, finances, and work issues. Why do people feel so comfortable divulging information to a person-tending bar (specifically me)? Maybe because I’m not directly associated with their lives there is a safety factor? I have no judgment? Either way I value every relationship and conversation I have with new and old customers everyday.
Some of my regular clients I don’t even know their names but I make an effort to make them feel welcomed or even special when they come in. I like to make people happy and smile because in the end that makes me happy.
I ended my short shift tonight with a regular of mine complimenting me. I never have had a conversation with this gentleman but I always remember what he drinks, eats, and I make sure to be attentive since he frequents our establishment. He states, ‘I don’t know how this works but I come in all the time and you’re the only one that has a freaking clue what is going on and is always attentive and great to us. Thank you.’ As he preceded to hand me an extra tip he told me to put away for myself J It’s nice to be appreciated in the service industry once in awhile since the other 99% of the time people forget your a human.

Plan D
My Friday night consisted of a few glasses of wine at a friend's apartment, takeout pizza, and a pit stop at Cafe Vittoria in the Northend. The humorous part is my last call for a beverage on a Friday night was a decaf cappuccino at 10:30 pm. I'm starting to feel old with the fact I was pleasantly content and happy with my night and company, 'Plan D' Diana. Mission accomplished.

Lastly, Diana got a cat call from a local 'Frankie' asking for some spare change followed with his handout of personalized cards with his phone number on it. Diana was a doll accepting his number and told him she would get him next time with some change. The amazing part was Frankie's response 'Thanks girl, I'll give you a call on Monday!' Diana was like wtf! I get bumped to Monday like he has a booked calander! Too funny to handle.
Femme and Fierce
I had the pleasure to discover an amazing new boutique in NYC on my last visit over the holidays. Irregular Choice is a hidden jem in the neighborhood of Nolita in NYC. Women and Men fashion taken to a level of fantasy meets the girl next door yet keeping the style fresh and fun. Over 10 years of creativity and a fan base that fully appreciates the designers pushing boundaries with each collection.

Reminisce
This song takes me to an underground martini bar near Farringdon Road in London smoking a cigarette in the dimly lit room enjoying the melody while slowly sipping my cocktail. Time is of no concern and many nights were spent conversing with locals and fellow scholars.
Seven years ago this would have been my second day living/studying in London and the start of an amazing journey with unforgettable adventures that continue everyday of my life. Experiences like this develop us into the people we are today, for good or bad. Fortunately mine are mostly good :)
